Setting Up

Initial Run-Through

  • Navigate through questions and entry screens and begin entering your information. You'll be able to enter most of the information without much research.
  • As you progress through the screens, make note of the documents you'll need to locate (e.g. birth certificates, deed to your house), and the belongings you want to catalog.
  • The more you put into your personal secure database, the better it is for your recovery after a disaster. MyDisasterPlan.com allows you to select the items you want to enter and to skip those that you don't. You can also enter your information all at once or in multiple sessions over time.

Entering The Details

  • To make entry quick and easy, take the list you created and go through your house to gather the appropriate documents and information, and take pictures of important belongings.
  • When you put this information in your computer, we recommend putting all of these items in one file folder named "MyDisasterPlan". This will allow you to locate all of your documents more easily when entering your information.
  • Return to the website and log in. Now you can walk through the screens again and input the additional information, documents, and pictures that you gathered.

Congratulations!

At this point you've safely gathered all of the necessary information you'll need to continue functioning, and have a smooth recovery in case of an emergency.
